Communities on all continents to experience the devastation of declining water quality, soil quality, climate change and biodiversity loss. Project Green Hands (PGH), an initiative of the Foundation for Ecological Isha in Tamil Nadu, India has consistently grown out of deep concern for the global impact of deforestation and soil degradation,and especially for the rapidly changing ecology of Tamil Nadu. Drawing largely on the voluntary participation of community and participation on a large scale, the project aims at 114 million trees nationwide - providing an additional 10% on the current state of plant vegetation in Tamil Nadu. Since its founding in 2004, PGH successful planting of more than 5 million trees has treated more than one million people. PGH is an action-oriented, which is committed to developing a hands-onApproach that can be easily replicated in rural communities worldwide.
