Garage Build - Day 7 - June 9 - 2008

Kyle and his professional assistant load up tons of gravel and soil for compaction into the slab area. Since my yard sloped so much, the garage appeared to be built higher than normal - but in essence the structure is no higher than our neighbors'. An advantage to having such a deeply sloped yard is that I could have the block wall come higher out of the surrounding soil - which gives me a higher headroom inside the garage. It also matches the amount of concrete block showing around the house, which makes for a more inclusive appearance. I don't know if I've mentioned it, but these guys at Stankosky Construction (Johnny's Concrete) have been nothing less than professional. I'm new to construction, but I'm the type of person that "picks 'n' sticks" - that is to say, if I'm satisfied with the work, these people will get my business for decades to come. --------------------------------------- I plan to build the garage on this foundation. This is a day-by-day time capture of the process.
