Rockefeller Suction Pile

Launching the suction pile overboard from an offshore vessel seven miles from the Hoover platform in the Gulf of Mexico. Optimally, one would use two cranes to upend this pile in the air then lower it into the water, but we managed to get er done. The first part of the video is an ROV launch. Second part is the pile overboarding. This suction pile is a sleek designed creature, used to set the 3-slot manifold. Using shear strenght of the seabed soil, we predicted with the ventilation valve area that it would self penetrate 26 ft in the mud...actually penetrated 25.5 ft. The we sucked her down.
