Since I've moved in, I've experienced flooding in the basement after almost every rainstorm. This is some video footage of the flooding. Anchor Property Management refuses to help me protect the basement from this water, stating that "it wasn't intended to be used as a living space". I use the basement for my computer room, as a practice space for my band(which I explained before I signed the lease), and as a laundry room. The landlord told me that there were slight water issues....but I didn't expect anything of this magnitude! If they don't expect me to use the basement "as a living space", what kind of space do they expect me to use it as? Should I just leave the water and let the basement rot? Should I let the basement grow black mold? If I'm paying for the entire house, shouldn't the basement be part of that? I don't expect them to dig up the foundation and fix the problem. But to this date (3/2009) they have done NOTHING to address the issue despite my pleas. Seal the cracks on the outside foundation. Put some soil around the house slanting away from the house...do something, anything! Just don't continue to do NOTHING.
